The report from Good Jobs First identifies 16 states that let companies divert some or all of the state income taxes deducted from workers’ paychecks. None of the states requires notifying the workers, whose withholdings are treated as taxes they paid.
Most of me thinks that if you don’t pay attention as a citizen, if you fail to vote for what’s in your best interest and fall for the tactics of preying on fear and ignorance, you deserve what you get.
